Cosmic Charlie VS. The Wild West.
(AUDIO: Dark End of the Street by Gram Parsons, 1971)
Whether it’s the dusky rock + roll imagery, or the meloncholy heartbeat of pioneerism itself, the Wild West was always magnetically attractive to me. I always considered myself a cowboy, an outlaw of my own borders, clickety-clacking towards my own lonesome sunset.
I always saw good spiritual connections between motorcycle outlaws, the free love generation and the quintessentially American frontiersman of the Gold Rush-era. For me, Gram Parons was as brutally Western as Roy Rogers, or Johnny Cash.
