Self-expression with cork and tacks.
(PHOTO: Cork Board, Brooklyn Heights, 2003)
The cork board was the original tumblr blog. With stuck tacks, and that cheapo cardboard edge, it was a perfect platform to conspicuously announce who you were as a person.
In today’s culture, we are often described more by what we ‘like’, rather than what we do, think or fight for. Modern blogging can be a veritable TOP TEN of slightly ironic, slightly pretentious pop culture references, uninvited blips of ego-centric wisdom and possibly a Polaroid of a cleverly poised girl with her bare tits out. Arty, emo elements, noir-ish lighting and a leftist political caption create the perception of art over pornography.
